Those grapes
I am sitting here looking out the patio door at Concord grapes that are
just turning purple and the raccoons haven't attacked yet.
We leave Saturday for an almost month-long trip and I hadn't planned to
do anything with the grapes except offer them to anyone who might want
them for juice or jam. I went to the bus stop today because I knew a
mom would be there who might want them. She thanked me profusely for
the offer, but said their 2 yr. old vines have already produced over 40
lb. of ripe grapes (they have quite a few varieties.)
We mentioned to the other moms (8 of them) that I had Concord grapes
ready to give away and they looked at me like I had two heads. I guess
it's a generational thing wanting to preserve free bounty. :-(
I'm going top pick them and make juice tonight, freeze the juice and
decide what to do with it when we get back.
