I would say that what you are saying is a general truth but not
an absolute truth. If it's a true micromanaging boss, his or her
reports who do a bit of pushing back might well end up doing better
than the ones who slavishly obey.
Of course, upward delegation that stops short of outright insubordination
is a skill in itself.
