Sorry but I don't see the relevance of the "rice being important in Asia" with your content post. Anyway, rice is important for Asians because it is one of their staple foods aside from other crops. It can prevent hunger in the longest hours of not eating or consuming anything. They can also survive with only rice and few viands or none at all.
