Default Tonight's dinner.

It's a mishmash for all of us. Angela and my husband both have a little
leftover pizza. Husband got some nasty smelling Thai soup from Central
Market. He said it was very good, but in trying to get the lid off (which I
never fully succeeded to do), I got it down the front of me. We all got
salad bar. I am going to have that and just a few Tostito's scoops with
Queso dip.

Meanwhile we are waiting for the apples to bake. Angela saw Lidia
Bastianich baking some apples and she wanted to make them. We are using
Golden Delicious. They are baked with the skin on and a stick of cinnamon
stuffed down the cored middle. Just a sprinkle of sugar goes in the open
core. Bake 35 minutes at 375 with foil on and a little water in the bottom
of the baking dish. Then 10 minutes uncovered to brown.

The slightly cooled apples are served with three kinds of sauce. One is the
apple juice remaining in the casserole, cooked down in a pan until syrupy.
The other is chocolate sauce. She gives a recipe but we just bought
Dilettantes. The other is Amarena cherries in syrup which sadly I could not
find in the store. I will order some online for next time. So we will make
due with some cherry preserves. Lidia seemed to use them just for color.

I will have an apple but only a taste of each sauce. I do love baked
apples. Haven't had one in years. Timer is going off! Time to reduce the
sauce.
