Heh.... I agee. I'm old enough to recall all those catalogs. We
called 'em "wish books" when we were kids. The annual Sears Christmas
toy catalog was serious business and given more hours of concentrated
study than even afternoon cartoon shows on tv. Sears and Roebuck, JC
Penny's, Montgomery Wards, all did that. Wards is gone. Don't know
if Penny's still has a catalog. I'm sure Sears does.

Sears used to sell killer fruitcakes from their Christmas catalog,
only. One, Grandma's Finest, or something like that, was truly
awesome. Mostly nuts and a couple dried fruits like raisins and
dates. None of those day-glo polyvinyl fruit thingies. Used to be
able to buy fine hunting rifles and shotguns from the Penny's catalog,
even in CA.

I guess catalogs never really went away. Mom still gets dozens in the
mail. I get the occasional Cabela's catalog, but all that stuff in on
their website. And then there's QVC and their ilk on tv. Buy 29 high
quality folding and hunting knives for only $46!! What crap! lol
