There can be no doubt that's pretty much what I'm looking for. The
question is, is the pin flat (cylindrically parallel) in the center
and only begin tapering at the ends, or does it begin tapering from
the center, like most of that type I've seen described on the web.

If it does begin tapering from the very center, is the taper so
negligible in the center area that it doesn't really signify? The pic
you show doesn't look like it tapers from the center, but perhaps
that's because the taper is so little.
