I am amazed that Googling does not uncover one of those, but
I Googled in vain.

I would try every antique shop (not the ones that carry "authentic"
1700s stuff) within range and look in the baskets of kitchen stuff
they always have. You might even find one in a thrift shop. It looks
as tough they don't make them any more and you will have to find a used one.

If you need something immediately, try an old-fashioned ladies' hairpin,
the thin wire ones with the round curve. I've heard of using those
successfully.
