,---- [ Agent's Help File - Ignore Subthread ]
| Ignore Subthread One of the key features of Agent is it's ability to
| thread messages, that is, to show responses to messages indented beneath
| the original message. Some messages threads can have a great many
| messages, with offshoot discussions in which you are not interested
| cropping up in "subthreads". In this case you want to find the top
| message of such a discussion and ignore it and all the responses to it,
| while not ignoring other threads in the message. In Agent you do this
| by using the Ignore command on the top message in those subthreads you
| don't want to read. Agent will mark this message and all messages in
| the thread below this message read, so you can ignore them.
`----
As far as I know, there's no way for Agent to parse message bodies and
kill all messages that have quoted text from certain posters, but there
are people who are more skilled with Agent than I am, despite my ten years
of use with it. I usually create pretty simple filters for watching for
my own posts so I can easily spot my own messages and responses to them. I
normally don't kill messages with filters.
Anyway, Agent 6 can hide quoted text, so to me, if one was offended simply
by the amount of quoted text someone else was posting, simply hiding it
would take care of the problem.
