From a blind tasting of 317 Austrian red wines from the 2001 vintage
held from last Tuesday to Thursday (I am still recovering!), these
were the best of 32 st. laurents:

91 2001 St. Laurent Barrique Domäne, Stift Klosterneuburg
90 2001 St. Laurent Reserve, Juris (Stiegelmar), Gols
90 2001 St. Laurent Reserve, Malat, Palt, Kremstal
89 2001 St. Laurent Reserve, Hans & Philipp Grassl, Göttlesbrunn
89 2001 St. Laurent "exclusiv", Stefan Lang, Neckenmarkt
89 2001 St. Laurent Reserve, Walter Handler, Mönchhof
88 2001 St. Laurent Barrique, Hans & Martin Netzl, Göttlesbrunn
88 2001 St. Laurent Alter Weingarten, Birgit & Helmuth Renner, Gols

From a blind tasting of 1365 Austrian wines held last July, these
were the best of 20 st. laurents:

91 2001 St. Laurent Reserve, Juris (Stiegelmar), Gols
90 2001 St. Laurent Hannes Schuster, Rosi Schuster, St. Margarethen
90 2002 St. Laurent, Gernot & Heike Heinrich, Gols
89 2000 St. Laurent Grande Cuvée, Monika & Johannes Reinisch,
Johanneshof, Tattendorf
89 2002 St. Laurent Goldberg, Birgit Braunstein, Purbach
88 2000 St. Laurent Selection, Christine & Hans Nittnaus, Gols
88 2001 91 St. Laurent Barrique Domäne, Stift Klosterneuburg

From the same tastings held in 2002 and 2001:

92 2000 St. Laurent Reserve, Hans & Philipp Grassl, Göttlesbrunn
91 2000 St. Laurent Barrique Domäne, Stift Klosterneuburg
90 2001 St. Laurent, Rudolf Zimmermann, Klosterneuburg
89 2000 St. Laurent Reserve, Juris (Stiegelmar), Gols
88 2000 St. Laurent Waldacker, Fam. Mad (Marienhof), Oggau

Note that Stift Klosterneuburg recently released a super premium st.
laurent: 2000 Reserve. Very expensive, little has been made (but for
tasting purposes they might part from a bottle or two).

Note that the very best portions of st. laurent tend to go into the
superpremium blends.
