First of all - I see it done more egregiously by bottom posters here.

Second - if I want to reply to the last two posts, I don't need to
reply and trim, I only need to highlight/reply.

Third - we don't need to worry about bandwidth issues in this day and
age.

Fourth - those who do have issues can set their news client not to
download bodies larger than x.

Fifth - look at sky's post again. She's an old timer on usenet yet
she cut out most of the attributions, keeping only the text. Top
posting fixes that.
