The cider casserole
I was able to eat it, although I didn't eat a lot of it. With each bite I
would think it was sort of good but would be better without the sausage.
There is just something in the seasoning of Italian sausage that I don't
like. And perhaps the texture. I don't really like that either. It was
really sweet. I fear if I had put in all of the brown sugar it called for
it would have been like candy! I do think at least a small sprinkle is
needed for the taste. Perhaps a brown sugar substitute could be used.
Don't know. The sugar did mix with the juice from the applesauce and there
was a lot of liquid in the bottom.
This did not bake up like I thought it would. I used a large flat
casserole, thinking I could cut it in squares. I could not and I don't
think if I used the full amount of brown sugar it would have helped in that
regard. So the next time I make it, I will put it in a deeper dish so it
will take up less fridge space.
Angela really loved it but said it was filling. Husband said he liked it
too. It is probably not something I would eat again, but it was a winner
for them. I am not going to test my BG after eating. I don't wanna know.
