According to the Los Angeles Times, The shooter, William Strier, was not
this lawyer's client. The two were adversaries in a dispute over a trust
fund that had been established with money Strier received in an injury
settlement. Streir was angry over money drawn from his trust fund to pay the
attorney representing the trustee who had been appointed by the court to
manage the trust fund. The lawyer had come to court on Friday for a hearing
on a request for an additional $6200 from Streir's trust fund for the
trustee and for himself. Strier claimed that in addition to depleting his
trust fund, the trustee and lawyer were responsible for witholding money
that was needed for his medical care.
