Changing Paths II - FoodSaver & Pump-N-Save
I have put to the trash a FoodSaver V2490 I bought at Costco 9-24-05.
DH and I don't think it was a good value considering how much it was
actually used, although I did use it to the fullest for my own needs.
I bought lots of containers at the beginning; many were cracked and had to
be replaced. Some cracked and were graciously replaced by FoodSaver. I
stopped using the plastic bags right-away ($40 down the drain; my fault, I
should've waited). All of my plastic marinators cracked after using less
than 5 times. I bought the winesaver tops, the refrigerator jar tops, and
the mason jar tops accessories; I spared nothing :-))
After a while I ended up using the foodsaver solely for cheeses, beans,
rice; mostly dry food and liked using it this way.
As there is a limit to a 2-person family's use of a food saver using this
method, I feel I should try another model.
FoodSaver said that it needed 'replaced.' They told me they have a model
called a MealSaver for $45.95 if I bought it that day on that particular
call with $14.95 s&h (regularly $49.99+$14.95 any other time.)
I checked online and at Kohl's and found that this was sold regularly at
$59.99. Just too much to spend on that particular gadget.
I checked online and found that there is a Pump-N-Save which I in the past
was a bit leary about. But it looks like it MAY work. I ordered it -
$29.95+$7.95 shipping.
Hope it gets here soon; cheese waiting.
