Default 2001 Priorat and Chianti

Dinner of NY Strips in Korean marinade..puree of garlic, soy, onion,
black pepper and a dash of brown sugar. 2001 Morlanda Crianca
Priorat. The wine is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Carignan and 10%
Cabernet Sauvignon. A fairly pale red in the glass, perfectly clear.
Nose of toasted oak and spice. Sappy cherry notes on the palate,
smooth supple and seamless nice balance of tannins and acidity. The
wine tastes much bigger than it looks or smells. Not bad. "A-"

Last night with pasta with a simple marinara made with the last of our
fresh tomato crop 2001 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico. Opaque purple
with a hint of brick. Deep aroma of currant and plums. Mature on the
palate with soft tannins, sweet black cherry and plummy fruit notes
with layers of wood and spice. "B+"
