Default GE slide-in convection range oven capacity

I don't participate in this forum, I just needed somewhere to
post so that future appliance shoppers searching for info could
find it.

Just before signing yesterday on a new GE Profile range I noticed
something that resulted in my walking away from it. It concerns
the convection fan and the space it takes up inside the oven. I'm
not exactly sure I understand where the problem comes from but it
does not exist for equivalent GE free-standing convection ranges
(that have the controls at the rear of the appliance). I don't know
if slide-in convection ranges (ie those with the controls up front)
from other manufacturers suffer from the same problem.

The thing is that the convection fan and its housing stick out inside
the oven and reduce the rack depth by 3" (76mm) to about 14" (355mm),
barely enough room for a large pizza, without the box. Forget about
an extra-large pizza. I find this pretty amazing considering this is
one of GE's flagship ranges.

GE's free-standing convection ovens on the other hand have the fan
behind the rear wall and the rack depth is about 17" (432mm).

I guess if you don't eat pizza you might not mind but I imagine there
are some who use large backing sheets who could also have a problem.

A big thanks to all those who posted info on their appliances
throughout the 'net, I've spent the last week going crazy trying to
decide which appliances to buy for our new house. A very lengthy
process since there are literally hundreds of models and they each
have different pros and cons.
