The only thing any pit needs is the ability to maintain a constant temp of
220-250° and to create some smoke. Beyond that, the rest is convenience:

- how long it will run unattended
- how much space
- can you use it in cold weather
- fuel options (charcoal, wood, gas, electricity)
- option to grill
- appearance
- durability (will it rust out if left outdoors)
- price

Some bullet smokers do pretty well on many of these criteria.
