I, too, have reported people for leaving their little ones in the car
while they go in to shop. Generally the police will be there very
quickly. I usually just dial 911 and even tell them who I am.
Every year here I read in the paper or hear on TV where a child has died
from being left in a closed up vehicle in the heat of summer. The last
one was an infant, too small to try to get out on her on. The mother was
tried and convicted for the death. As a parent and grandparent I have
difficulty imagining anyone would leave their child somewhere where it
is dangerous but it happens every day in this country.
