They just upped the fine for that here in Texas...

I'm thinking about asking the CPAAA director if I can keep a ticket book
and write for those. It's a civil, not a criminal offense.

Last spring, I took our local CPA course (Citizens Police Academy) and
joined the Alumni Association when I was done.

Twice per year (Black Friday weekend and Tax Free weekend) we volunteer
with the local PD to help with parking enforcement at the outlet mall.

I get to write parking tickets for those that park in Handicap spots and
fire lanes. :-)

It's fun.

Other things we do are mostly fund raising for the PD to purchase items
that the city can't or won't, and the PD feels they need (like a bunch
of digital cameras for evidence gathering and a fleet of police bicycles
for city and outlet mall patrol were more recent purchases) and
community service stuff. The outlet mall vendors also purchased a few
Segways!

I like it. :-)

Blue Santa project was especially rewarding.

Andy, if you are interested, google and see if your city has a CPA
course. Many do. And they are usually free.
