A similar thing happened here with retail stores. The stores in NY state
were open on Sundays and our dollar was close to the US dollar. People
were flocking over the border to take advantage of cheaper prices, so
the local stores complained that they were losing too much business to
the American stores. The government opted to allow them to be open on
Sundays here.

I don't think anyone has more money to spend each week, but now the
stores have to pay people to man their stores 7 days a week instead of 6.
