small correction: it's a county-owned store. one of two counties in the
country that run liquor stores themselves, if i recall correctly.

they have signs that say 'we do not sell cold beer, cigarettes or lottery
tickets,' which for some reason tickles the hell out of me.

once in a while i'll go in there and say 'give me all your cold beer and
hot cigarettes!' just for the **** of it.
