Another of Grandma McQuown's recipes; the instructions are slightly more
specific than was usual for her
Mayonnaise Cake
Sift together in a bowl:
2 cups flour
1/2 c. Hershey cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
In another bowl:
1 c. sugar
1 c. mayonnaise [from a jar]
1 cup water
Then stir in dry ingredients. Mix well. Add 2 tsp. vanilla extract. Bake
at 350F for half hour or until toothpick test comes out clean. Bake in a 9"
square pan. Makes a small cake. Not enough batter for a layer cake.
Always moist and keeps well.
