Default Figs dried or fresh?

Just like tomatoes--fresh from the back yard are so much better than
those from the store because you pick them dead ripe, not hard and
greenish so they will survive shipping. It's true of every fruit you
can think of. Full flavor/sugar develops best on the tree.
