I prefer butter and lox but since it wasn't a choice I chose a schmear
and lox. But given my true druthers I would choose butter with matjes
herring... and next would be smoked whitefish (not whitefish salad,
pure smoked whitefish), then lox. Of course it's gotta be a real NYC
bagel, and fresh from the oven, anything else ain't any kind of
bagel. And there are very few places where one can find real lox, if
it's pre-sliced neon orange slime out of a plastic packet it ain't
lox. Real lox is hand sliced to order off the skin. And what they
call "nova" ain't real lox, that's lox for sissys.
Okay, now yoose given me an appetite for "appy", and I'm ready, I got
plenty vodka.
