I usually pick a bottle of Beaujolais (seems appropriate to drink a wine
from the current year at a harvest festival) and maybe a bottle of Riesling.

I think Chianti should work too; that's my favorite "jug wine" -- maybe
keep it in stock for leftovers, or if your guests are big drinkers and
the good stuff runs out.
