Doing what exactly? What would you hire these people to do around your
house or in your neighborhood?

So would they if given jobs. Most of these people are chronically
rejected for the jobs they try to get, and that has little to do with
their attire or speech patterns, as many conservatives allege. It has
everything to do with racism, classicism and outright discrimination
against the poor. Employers often reject single mothers because they
fear conflicts arising from child care emergencies.
