Default Oatmeal as a side dish

In the 70's or 80's I had a recipe for using oatmeal as a side dish,
like rice. It involved tossing the oatmeal with something, maybe egg,
sauteeing it briefly and then adding some amount of broth or other
liquid. Does anyone have this recipe or technique?
