The KA slicer/shredder attachment is essentially a toy (as are all
it's attachments). and depending what you want to slice/shred and how
fussy you are about uniformity and neatness you very well may do
better with a chefs knife and cutting board than with any home style
food processor.... there are commercial processors that work very well
but they're not appropriate for the quantities needed at home nor
would you want to know the price.
Unless you have a physical disability that prevents you from using a
knife (or you're a klutz) I'd suggest you don't even think about a
food processor for slicing/shredding. Slicing/shredding is best
accomplished with a sharp knife and/or box grater. If you plan to
make huge quantities of shredded cabbage for slaw or kraut you'll do
far better with one of those inexpensive Amish type gizmos... they're
good for many other kitchen chores... they're time tested, use no
electric, and will last your lifetime and your heirs.
