You don't get to define "the (vegan) issue", which is the use of animals as
food in general, not just the (big-bad) meat industry.

You've obfuscated the issue, animals can be used for food *without* any
"meat industry" involved, by individuals and small groups (co-ops), and the
result is less animal death and environmental damage than caused by a vegan
who bases their diet on commercially grown plant foods.
