Default My neighbors don't know how to take care of dogs

Sorry I just need to vent.

My neighbors had a little dachshund named Elizabeth. I learned this because
they repeatedly put her into the backyard which wasn't secure and she kept
getting out through a hole in the fence, and I kept letting them know she
was out and/or chasing her back into her yard.

After this had happened a few times, and they said "Thank you" to me again,
I told them they should really keep the dog indoors. They said that they
didn't want the dog to mess up their carpet (she was unspayed and they had
bred her once before, and I think they didn't want her to leak blood when
she was in heat), so I told them about how they could set up a pen in the
back yard and keep the dog inside that if they wanted the dog to be an
outside dog. They said they'd think about it, and might also think about
putting baby gates up where they didn't want the dog to go in the house.

Well they were lying and didn't do a darn thing, and the dog kept getting
out again and again. Each and every time I saw the dog, I went out and made
sure she got back home.

The last time I saw the dog was over a month ago.

Today my dad said that the neighbors had told them that Elizabeth had died
(but they didn't say how).

This is so frustrating!

The worst thing is, they got a new dog. I just hope they take better care
of this one!

Previous neighbors who had lived in the same house had done the exact same
thing with a black lab, but unfortunately I witnessed that accident, and
heard the terrible scream. That's why I was so vigilant about Elizabeth, I
tried as hard as I could to keep that from happening again.
