Sorry for the late answer - I've been AWOL from RFC for about a week.
Had the DH's birthday dinner to prepare for, then we had a 3 day bench
trial to prepare for and attend, then another family dinner this
weekend. And tomorrow I get to go to work and catch up on all the
stuff that didn't get done while we were in court :-(
Anyhoo, I did, indeed, order most of the dinner. Have a local eatery
in Dana Point called "The Rib Joint" that is a total dump of a
restaurant, but makes good barbecue. Ordered a bunch of bbq ribs and
chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, three bean salad. A daughter made the
cake. I did some snacks (too homely to be called hors d'ouevres), an
artichoke spread and toasted baguette rounds, some dry Italian salami
and cheese with crackers. Made some deviled eggs and garlic bread. A
big batch of homemade sangria ensured that everyone remembered the
meal fondly, what they could actually remember of it.
And thanks for asking. It was one of those birthdays with a zero
tacked on the end, which always seems to make one remark about how
time flies. And mean it. Wasn't I 28 about six years ago?
Speaking of which, I have never lied about my age, but I am starting
to lie about my *kids'* age.
