garlic ice cream?
There are many garlic ice cream recipes on the internet. But has anyone
tried this? Is it good? I love garlic, but I cannot imagine it in ice cream. |

I tried the famous Garlic Ice Cream they sell at the Gilroy Garlic Festival and it was as awful as you could imagine. 100% gimmick. Vanilla ice cream with granulated garlic added. That's it. Sounds great, eh? -- Reg |

These are mainly used as palette cleansers as well as complimentary desserts from the chef. Garlic isn't all that shocking.... you'll see bacon ice cream, celeriac, beet, carrot, ginger, clam, lobster, etc. It's only as crazy (and sometimes disgusting) as the chef wants it to be. You can add any flavor to ice cream. The difference is that this isn't something you want to serve to a guest like a normal bowl of ice cream... meaning... maybe just a little melon baller of ice cream would do the trick. (say... 1 tsp) I would serve a garlic melon baller as a teaser to the next course - (hopefully not dessert!!!) |

You eat a dish, then eat garlic ice cream, puke, then you can eat another dish, then eat garlic ice cream, etc, forever. The same kind of thing that ancient Romans used feathers for. |

Some people liked it though because last summer I noticed people purchasing full sized cones of it. blech. marcella |

garlic ice cream?
I have a cookbook which includes a recipe for onion ice cream. The ice cream
is served with meat, as part of a main course. Might be good. But garlic ice cream on its own does not appeal to me. I'll try almost anything at least once, though. |

I liked how he said he wanted to get people to try new flavor combibations and then his ice cream was voted the worst. If some so called chef wants to make some weird flavor of ice cream such as garlic they can go right ahead, but they shouldn't turn their noses up at people and say they have uneducated palates when they say it tastes horrible. It's bad manners to criticize someone else's food choices. |
