label removal
I have problems removing labels from the newer wine bottles, they don't just
soak off anymore. What should I use? Walter the Grey |
For some of the tougher labels, I soak them first in hot soapy water, and if
the label doesn't come off I use Goo Gone. Darlene Wisconsin, USA "walterthegrey" > wrote in message .. . >I have problems removing labels from the newer wine bottles, they don't >just > soak off anymore. What should I use? > Walter the Grey > > |

If soapy hot water doesn't work, use a hammer.

Ah, yes, for those extra hard labels which only come off if you break the
bottle. lol Darlene "LG1111" > wrote in message ... > If soapy hot water doesn't work, use a hammer. > > Lee |

A trick is to look at the back of the label through the glass, if there are
horizontal or vertical lines on the glue side they will soak off otherwise they are only going to be a bigger problem if you put them in water. Just try to peel those off before doing anything to them, if they won't peel then use those goo products and if that doesn't work use the hammer, although that tends to rip the labels :oP Louise:o) <reply@grouponly> wrote in message ... > On Wed, 25 Aug 2004 07:13:56 -0500, "Dar V" > wrote: > > >For some of the tougher labels, I soak them first in hot soapy water, and if > >the label doesn't come off I use Goo Gone. > >Darlene > >Wisconsin, USA > > > >"walterthegrey" > wrote in message > . .. > >>I have problems removing labels from the newer wine bottles, they don't > >>just > >> soak off anymore. In keeping with "men and boys, the difference being the size and price of
their toys" I bought a bench grinder and replaced a stone with a wire brush. (This was after a hand grinder and a wire brush attachment) Dick |
