Default Goo B Gone

Can anyone suggest an alternative to Goo B Gone that would be widely
available in Ireland for removing label residue off of bottles? (For the
stubborn glue that won't boil off.) I've found a few UK places but they are
double in price plus shipping.

Thanks

Lots of discussion about label removal on this forum. Here's what a
quick search uncovered:

I have had luck soaking the bottles in water/fabric softener for 30 mins or
so then peel the label off. Then quick scrub with plastic scraper(like steel
wool). Small amount of work, but seems good. Cam

I start with a good soak in sterilizer. For labels that don't
fall off I have used a paint scraper. It is a retractable single edge
razor blade held in a flat handle. The local paint or hardware store
should carry it. For remaining residue I follow up with a nylon fibre
pot scrubber.

I usually store wine in bulk, 3-4 litre jugs ( recycled Gallo
bottles), then transfer to smaller bottles once I have to open one.

cheers

Mike
