Just a question. I have a buddy getting deployed to the middle east soon
and he asked if he could make a wine kool-aid. Just add a couple extra
pounds of sugar or something, yeast and let it ferment. he is not going so
much for taste, but being able to drink in kuwait.

Thanks
Joe

He can make wine from Kool Aid, but there are better options. Any fruit
juice, canned, fresh or frozen will produce better results. He should
also take along wine yeast as that would not be available and any other
yeast would give disappointing results. Also other items to take would
be acid blend, peptic enzyme and yeast nutrient.

Just water, sugar and any yeast like breadyeast will do. As it is quite hot
in Kuweit the sun will help to destillate the resulting "wine". Pour water
into bucker, add sugar and yeast, add some sugar every third day as long as
there is activity.
Put a glass then or jug into the bucket containing the wine, cover with
plastic sheet, seal with tape so the alcohol can't get away, put stone in
middle upon plastic and put into the sun. Collect what has evaporated en
dropped into jug or glass. Taste before drinking and if necessary add water
or juice.
He'll be very grateful

Joe , also mention to him that little thing called UCMJ . Uniform Code of
Military Justice . I don't want to sound like a jerk , but in this world a
person has one thing in life he is judged on . His honor . He is going to a
country where alcohol is not allowed . If he is caught , it will be more
than just a hand slap . He will be busted faster than you can say " what
happened " .
In the eyes of the country he will be in , it would be better to kill a
woman , than get caught with alcohol . Their country , their rules .

Yep, this is true. My point of view on it is that he knows it is wrong, he
is a grown man, if he does it then he takes the risk. For me, its good not
to drink for 4-5 months...when you get back home, you are a cheap drunk...
LOL..

Take care,
