Martina Franca (Martina) DOC (White)

Grape types: Verdeca 50-65%, Bianco d’Alessano 35-50%; with the
possible addition of Fiano and/or Bombino and/or Malvasia Toscana, up
to maximum 5%

Notes: The town of Martina Franca is the “gateway” into the Itria
valley and its 15,000 trulli, and was founded in 1300 by Philippe I of
Anjou. The eponymous wine is the most delicate of Apulian whites.

Area: vineyards comprised within the communes of Martina Franca and
Alberobello (famous for its multitude of ancient trulli), and part of
Ceglie Messapico and Ostuni, between the provinces of Brindisi, Bari
and Taranto

Color: light straw yellow or light green

Nose: delicate, vinous, appealing, characteristic

Palate: delicately fruity, fresh and dry

Aging before release: none

Cellar life: best enjoyed young

Food pairings: shellfish and seafood antipasti, risotto and pasta with
fish-based sauces, fish, omelettes, fresh dairy products
