Hawthorn blossoms

I have a few recipes for Hawthorn Blossom wine. All of them speak
about measuring the blossoms in quarts. Do I just use a quart
measuring jug and fill it wice with blossoms? Do I press them down? I
need some advice on this one!!

Hawthorn blossoms

Hi Ian.

I just made this in the UK following a Terry Garey generic flower
recipe. I used litres rather than quarts but yes, I
loosely packed them. That is to say I poured them into the measuring
jug and didn't press them down much, just to make
sure none were stuck and holding the rest up unduly.

I dont know if you will have the same bother, but mine smelled a
little unpleasant when I first steeped them but it smelled great when
I got it started after about 5 days...

Good luck, Jim
