Default what is in the contents of a wine making kit?

as per my other message thread I am deciding on getting a wine kit or
two to see If i should make my plums into wine next year. I have a
bunch of winemaking bits and pieces given to me, but i need to know
what i might be missing, and decide wether to buy the missing parts or
a whole kit. I know there was an airlock in the batch, plus a couple of
plastic buckets (not 5 gal ones tho).

I suppose this weekend i should dig thru the stuff and inventory what
is there. can someone tell me what *should* be there? please dont list
every gadget under the sun, just what would be needed to make wine.

Just do a Google search for wine making kits. You'll find everything
listed for you. These items are usually the bare necessities. There's a
few extra things that are nice to have too. You'll find this out along
the way. Nothing seems to cost more than $10.

A "wine kit" is the consumables to make a batch of wine. It typically
includes wine concentrate/juice (more juice means more $$$), plus
yeast, sulfite, sorbate, fining agent.

A wine hardware "setup" (for lack of a more descriptive term) should
include at a minimum the following:

hydrometer
5/6 US gallon carboy
rubber stopper & airlock
6 to 10 gallon food grade fermenting bucket
5' to 6' racking tube
racking tube
filler tube
hand corker

Nice to have:

bottle draining rack
floor corker
degassing tool (mounts in a drill, great to have!)
stirring paddle (food grade plastic, long handle)
extra bottles of various sizes for topup, plus stoppers & airlocks

If I've left anything out, someone please chime in!

Looked good to me if using kits or a recipe. If you're doing fresh
fruits, some means of acid testing is needed too. If you buy from a
local shop they will usually test for a minimal amount until you are
sure you really want to do this. Acid test kits are cheap and
reasonably effective; a pH meter is a good investment for someone who
is in this to stay.
