Default Shelf life of Diversol in solution

Hello folks.

How long will Diversol (stericlean, etc - pink powder mixed in water for
cleaner and sanitizer) remain effective in solution in a sealed bottle?

Hours? Weeks? Months? I haven't been able to find this in my searching.

Thanks.

Jack

Jack--hours.

The pink stuff is potassium permanganate that acts as a catalyst to
release chlorine. The rest of the material is a super detergent that
seem to do the best job of getting scummy residues off glass. It is to
be mixed with hot water, and used for up to an hour's soak, and NOT
stored or re-used. When the rinsing is done the bottle is ready to
fill. You should fill within 15 minutes of rinsing.

The stuff that can be stored for years is potassium (or sodium)
metabisulfite, I use 1% solution. As long as it smells, it will work.
But it does NOT wash, only sanitize.

There is a third product that is less effective--I have never bothered
to use it as the above work so well. The Diversol is the best choice
for beer (less acid, therefore MUCH more sensitive to bottle cleanness
and sanitation).

Potassium Metabisulfite has a shelf life of six months when the powder
is stored properly. As an aqueous solution exposed to air it is less.
I typically keep a 10% solution no more than 3 months.
