I just heard an ad on the radio for Bevmo. On sale thru Monday: buy one
bottle of wine, the second one of the save wine is 5 cents.

Surely that can't apply to _all_ their wines. Can it?

I could go for an extra bottle of the Phelps "Insignia" or "Backus" for 5¢.

I don't know, I haven't gone there yet.

No, I doubt you'll see any of the serious upper tier wines on these sales,
but they do them often and my guess would be maybe 100 or so labels each
time. I've seen wines for as high as US$40, with the second bottle for a
nickel. Well worth checking out for bargains......... on the web or if you
live near one.

The someone was me. I tracked down a few bottles of the Elena Old Vines Zin
(it had been recommended by a friend, who agreed with the above comparison)
but the store I found it at would not sell it to me as it was on hold for
someone. I think it was the 2002 that was the Old Vines, and the '03 was
their 'regular' Zin. Sometimes a gem shows up and the word gets out. This
apparently was a great value wine @$7.99. Maybe next time.
