The more I drink of this wine, the more I think I just want to drink myself
to death and die a happy man. Has anyone else had the opportunity to try
this one? It is perfectly balanced- lots of tropical fruit and green apple,
but a buttery, oily mouthfeel - all mixed with little whisps of oak. Buy a
bottle and hide away by yourself and drink the whole thing by yourself.

Yes, I've had a few of these. As a matter-of-fact, I am using it in a series
of tasting dinners, as an example of US Chards, and, so far, it has
experienced rave reviews, though the two Montrachets that I throw in as "
mystry" wines, have been very well-recieved, as well - in the white flights.

IIRC, this was Chuck Wagner's pet project, but it seems that a divorce may
have changed the ownership of this winery. Does anybody have those details?

AFAIK, he's still the owner of Mer Soleil Vineyard. Caymus *did* sell
the Liberty School label to Treana, who also make wine from the Mer
Soleil Vyd, but that sale didn't affect the Mer Soleil label IIRC.

Mark,

Thank you. There had been much discussion around AZ, regarding Caymus/Wagner
in the past few years. About the time that the "Caymus" came off the Conundrum
label, I was told that the divorce cost him that brand. Then, I was told that
he still had Conundrum, but had just done a graphic change. Still later, the
Mer Soliel label was mentioned as a victim of the divorce. Heck, with all of
the corporate mergers, and personel changes in CA, it's difficult to keep up.
Maybe I'll just schedule another Caymus tasting, next time in Napa, and ask
the questions at the source.
