Default Wine suggestions for Teriyaki Beef ?

Hi All,
My daughter invited us over for a dinner of Teriyaki beef.
I assume this is beef with a Teriyaki marinade. I told her
I would bring the wine. I have Cabernet, Zinfandel, Shiraz,
Pinot Noir, Merlot and Sangiovese available. Any thoughts
on which of these would best compliment the Teriyaki flavor?

Thanks,
Dick R.

Egad! Sweetened soy sauce with ginger doesn't sound like it would go with
_any_ of those. How about sake?

Whenever we have Teriyaki, we ALWAYS bring out our best vintage of
Chassagne-Montrachet! That nice strong Japanese soy sauce, sugar, and
ginger do a simply WONDERFUL job of keeping us from gagging on the
dreadful taste of the wine. <g>

European-style beverages go ONLY with European-style foods.

While I agree that terriyaki beef and wine is far from a match made in
heaven, I'd say that there are plenty of non-European style foods that go
pretty well with wine. E.g., tempura shrimp, many Indian foods, some
Mexican foods, etc. I'm sure others can contribute examples, but the point
is Europe doesn't have a lock on food & wine pairings.

It's just a memory now. The Teriyaki beef was a pre-packaged
item with just enough Teriyaki to add a little flavor and not
overpower a wine. Since I wasn't sure about the wine, I selected
a Novella Synergy (51%Sangiovese, 41%Zinfandel, 8%Petite Sirah)
from California.
CAUTION, very amateur tasting notes ahead.
The Novella is a very pleasant wine with no "sharp" edges and
a fairly short finish, but it went very well with the beef.
I think I'll put it on my "buy" list if I find it on sale.

Did I answer my own question? :-)

Thanks for the responses,
Dick R.
