Default 2004 Bouchard Montrachet GC

We celebrated my wife's birthday last night at our favorite restaurant in Columbus, The Refectory, and I brought along a bottle of 2004 Bouchard Montrachet GC one of her favorite wines to accompany the fabulous Dover Sole that The Refectory serves. The wine was pale gold in color and crystal clear. Very tight on opening (I should have had it decanted) and it took better part of an hour to begin opening up. Eventually the nose perked up showing high toned citrus, a bit of floral notes and some hazelnut. The nose and palate changed with virtually every sip with citrus, honey, flowers, butter and spices coming and going weaving in and out. Lovely. Really fine example of what Chardonnay can be. "A"
