Kistler Pinot / Sequoia Grove Reserves
I finally got my hands on a Kistler Pinot Russion River. Looking for an occasion to drink it. How should I get the most out of it? spinach and salmon? Get a cheap argentina pinot to drink first, so it will seem more fantastic that it actually is, hehe ? :) I wrote Sequoia Grove about my 2 bottles of Reserve (that the travel has pulled up the corks 2mm) and they are afraid the corks are compromised, so I should drink them within 2 months. Of the bottles I brought home, I expected these to be the ones Id hold on to the longest :( I wonder if I drink the 2006 and it is just fine, maybe I can keep the 2010 still? No wine leaked out from the corks, they were just up a bit. Having to drink these first, postpones my occasion to drink the kistler as well. |

I find it gives a gritty, bitter edge to Pinot Noir. |

I had the 2006 this weekend. it is just perfect. and my wife who hasnt tasted sequoia grove since 2011 said emotionally it is just as she remember it. So I'll hold on to the 2010 a while longer. Notes: Very good bottle. Concentrated, Blackcurrant and dark cherries, oak, licorice, vanilla, lingering finish. Still fresh. |
