As others have answered, most modern Malbec is likely to be ready in a few to several years and may hold well for several more years for the best examples. The best estates of Cahors in the first part of the 1900s and earlier made a black style of Malbec that could last many decades in some cases and often was so harsh when young that it was nearly undrinkable. I have tasted the Clos de Gamot 1914 and 1937 Cahors which were still holding well a few years ago. Having only tasted modern Malbec, many would find it very difficult to identify an old black Cahors as a Malbec.
