Default TN: Nahe, NSG, and white Bourgogne

With assorted vegetable leftovers (pumpkin, greens, beans) the 2009 Thomas Morey Bourgogne Blanc. New domaine to me, I think I was told old Bernard Morey. Full, balanced acidity, touch of oak in background (way in back). Great flavors, maybe not really long, but good value for level. B+/B.

With fish tacos, the 2010 Donnhoff Riesling QbA. One of the joys of buying this year in and year out is that it is always very good, yet it is always different, reflecting the vintage character. The 2010 is the "extra crispy" version,. with electric acids pushing the RS into the background. Lime/citrus, mineral, nice length, fine value. B+

With prime ribeyes from Costco, squash, potatoes, and salad, the 2002 Chevillon "Les Chaignots" Nuits St George 1er. Decanted 45 minutes. Still fruit-driven and primary, not the least shut down (I've generally found shut down 2002s to be the exception, though of course I'm not opening the big boys). Red fruit, earth, and animal notes. Fairly tannic, but not harsh. Nice length, good wine that needs time. Fruit does dominate, and I realize 2002 isn't a "terroir" vintage, but I enjoy a lot. B+/A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
