Default TN: Burgundy, Oregon, and corked Nahe

Wednesday rain ruined plans to enjoy park concert, and TCA ruined plans to enjoy the 2010 Donnhoff Kreuznacher Krotenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett. Too bad because if seemed to have very vibrant acids and lovely fruit under the cardboard.

With my shrimp in a radish leaf pesto over pasta, my backup was the
2009 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey St. Aubin 1er. Big, rich, impressive for St, Aubin but showing a bit too much wood for me now, but not in* a supertoasty style, so I think it will integrate. I'm saying B- now, but B+ potential.

Friday night I grilled some hanger steak bulgogi and squash, had with a Vietnamesesque cuke/radish salad and the 2006 Meo Camuzet Bourgogne. Really showing well, fleshy midbodied wine with mushroom and cocoa on the nose, solid black cherry fruit, good acidity, some light tannins. B+

Lobster on sale for $5/lb at Stew Leonards, at that price I can eat 2 (with corn from farmers market). Wine was the 2008*Drouhin-Vaudon (J.*Drouhin)*Chablis*1er Cru. Good acids, full bodied, fresh, classic. B+

Sockeye in a miso/shoyu marinade, with salad, beans, and the 2007*Coelho*"Paciencia" Pinot Noir. Cranberry and cherry, tomato plant, a bit sharp, a bit short, ok but not something I'd search out again. B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
