Default TN: Rheingau QbA and Morey St Denis

With vegetable fried rice and silken tofu with spinach, the 2008 Leitz
"Out" Riesling (Rheingau). Good acidity, lime and apple flavors, off-
dry. Pleasant, but comes across as a little dilute and short. Nice
enough, but there are better QbAs out there so will pass on more. B-

With grilled pork chops in a teriyali-esque marinade, grilled squash,
potatoes and salad, the 2005 Pierre Amiot Morey-St.-Denis. I was
worried this might be totally closed, a bit tight when opened but it
became more giving. Middleweight, balanced acids, some tannin on the
backend. Cherry and raspberry, ripe but not overripe, a bit of vanilla
suggests some oak. Good, not great, we'll see what a few years does. B/
B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an
excellent*wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I
wouldn't*drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I
offer no*promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of
consistency.**
