Default 2003 Mas des Brunes Cote de Thongues

I stopped at my favorite BBQ place in town and picked up a large hunk
of smoked brisket yesterday. I rummaged around in the cellar and
found a stash of 2003 Mas des Brunes Cote de thongue "Cuvee des
Cigales" which is a 60/40 syrah/grenache blend. It was a terrific
match for the brisket. Still dark purple showing no signs of age in
the glass. Nose of bacon fat, black pepper and black fruits. Smooth
and supple on the palate with plenty of ripe blackberry and
blueberry. Nicly balanced on the finish, slightly smoky and peppery.
A great QPR at about $15. "B+/A-"
