Default Roter Veltliner

Anyone familiar with this grape? I saw it in a local market and had
never come across it before. I didn't buy it, but probably will go
back for it just to quell my curiosity. According to <http://
www.wineloverspage.com/wineguest/wgg.html> it is not related to GV.
And why is it named Roter? The wine is white, but perhaps the grapes
have red skins, or the vines have red stems or foliage?

The Wein-plus in Germany states no immediate connection to GV, but possibly
a grandfather.
