Default TN: Kamptal lady sings this song, doo dah

Betsy used her new Kylie Kwong cookbook to make a light shrimp fried
rice, she also made baby bok choy and I opened the 2004 Hirsch
"Gaisberg" Riesling . Screwcapped, and at first I thought I got some
reductive notes from my glass (a Zalto white wine). Nothing reductive
from Betsy's (SZ Riesling), so I just swirled mine a couple of times
and soon it had passed (I'm not very sensitive to reductive odors
personally). What's left is a rather broad shouldered Riesling,
expansive grapefruit and apple fruit core with footnotes of petrol and
lemongrass. Good acidity, but not austere, showing quite well. Could
certainly age longer but seems quite open with just a bit of air, B+/
A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an
excellent*wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I
wouldn't*drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I
offer no*promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of
consistency.**
